pixinsight error "incompatible image geometry"

Hi folks

Recently downloaded a trial copy of Pixinsight and trying to get to grips with it.

Have encountered the above error

All the dark, bias, flats and images appear to have the same size of 3456 x 5184 pixels, and are raw files. Camera 550d controlled by APT software.

I am manually loading the files into the programme, first the bias frames to get a master bias, then the darks to get a master dark, then calibrating the flats and then getting a master flat. The whole lot going into the pot with the light frames, then right at the start of the processing I get the message and it all stops.

Anyone with ideas would be most welcome.

I have tried to run the process simply using the darks and lights, but get the same error.

I'm not sure what would cause your error, but I would recommend going to the Scripts menu and running the BatchPreprocessing script.    Then all your lights, darks, bias and flat files are treated together in one place.

I encountered the same error after a recent update to PI that included a revision to the DSLR_RAW component. You can try setting the format preference to "raw". You can do this on each process (e.g. ImageCalibration, ImageIntegration) by expanding the Format Hints section and entering "raw" in the Input Hints box. If you are using PI exclusively for astrophotography then you can change the default format preferences for DSLR_RAW: from View menu select Explorer Windows/Format Explorer. Double click on DSLR_RAW and the preferences window is shown. Its the "image flip" setting that matters and it should be on. Or just click the "Pure Raw" button at the bottom of the window and that will assign the correct settings.

Hi folks

Mark   Yes, just ran the same data in the Batch Processing Script an it ran with no problems, so not sure why it reports errors when manually manipulating the data in PI?

1DegreeN  Thanks for your input, I will give this a try, although I am very new to PI and don't want to foul up completely, not sure why it will handle the files in the Batch processing but not manual input?

Regards

Alec

The BatchProcessing script loads up the files completely raw.  Other manual methods of loading files generally adhere to the settings you have specified in DSLR_RAW.  These settings may specify that the image is loaded up in colour.

Go to the Format Explorer tab (if it's not visible go to View|Explorer Windows to enable it). Double click on DSLR_RAW and then set the "Create Raw Bayer CFA" or "Pure Raw" option depending which version of DSLR_RAW you have.

That is telling you that cr2 is considered to be a raw file.  Instead, double click on the DSLR_RAW icon at the extreme left (DSLR_RAW and not JPEG, FITS etc).  A new dialog box comes up "Raw Format Peferences".  This is where you click "Raw Bayer CFA" or "Pure Raw".

Thanks Mark & 1DegreeN for taking the time out with your advice - much appreciated.

I made the changes suggested and everything looks to be running OK

Thanks again

Alec
