Advice for Bresser Messier NT-203/1000 EXOS-2/EQ5 Telescope

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to buy my first telescope (In adult life!).

I was just hoping someone had or knew more information about this scope that could give me some information on what I'd be able to see through it and what eyepieces you would recommend.

I'm also very aware and realistic of what is able to be viewed through any scope so I'm not expecting any Hubble style views!

Thanks for your help!

Hi there,

This is in effect a 203mm newt on a decent mount. The 8" newt or dob has a great reputation, if you do not want the eq mount you can have an equivalent dobsonian for £280. If you have not used a scope like this before I would advise to find your local astro group and see what others have and what may suit you best, especially before spending the best part of £600.

Thank you for the link it's very helpful. I'm exploring my options because I live in an apartment so I'm a little concerned with getting a large telescope due to maneuverability, I feel as though something more compact would be better. I'm basically looking for a scope that gives me a bit of everything instead of one that's more built for deep sky etc.

It's a hard choice!
