Tuning your GEQ mount

Recommended Posts

There has been some discussion recently around 'tuning' mounts.  We haven't got anything against someone having their mount tuned and we don't want to discourage anyone resourceful enough to organise, manage, and assume the risks of a business or enterprise. But, we are advising customers thinking of having their mount tuned to check the person or company doing the work is qualified. Also, ask them who warranties the mount after it has been modified because I don't think we can blame Skywatcher or Celestron's distributors (or their dealers) if they decline to repair a modified mount.

Fortunately we haven't noticed a major problem so are not refusing warranty claims or advising people to not tune their mounts, but it is something we are monitoring. Perhaps SGL members can help by sharing their experiences. Have you had your mount tuned? Did it result in improved performance? If you share your experiences other members can more easily identify those companies and individuals who are most capable.
