June 29, 2015: 19-pane mosaic and a big prom shot

Recommended Posts

Managed a mosaic consisting of just ;) 19 panes. Used 100 frames out of 1000 for each pane. As usual I stacked in AS!2, and used LR deconvolution and (non-adaptive) unsharp masking in ImPPG. Due to restrictions in speed of the disk, I use 8 bits per pixel as a rule. The magnificent filaprom in the north-east deserved more special treatment. I captured 2000 frames in 16 bits per pixel, stacked 300 with AS!2, post-processed with LRgausdeconv (home brew) using LR deconvolution and adaptive unsharp masking.

First the mosaic (do click on them to get the full res):

Grey scale:

file.php?id=15119&mode=view

Part inverted:

file.php?id=15120&mode=view

Pseudo colour:

file.php?id=15121&mode=view

Part inverted + pseudo colour:

file.php?id=15122&mode=view

The prom:

file.php?id=15123&mode=view

file.php?id=15124&mode=view

Note the little detached blotch. When compared to the north-east part of the full mosaic (which is at the same resolution), it can be seen that noise control is a lot better in the adaptive unsharp masking case
