SW Synscan AZ only working sometimes.

I've had the Synscan AZ mount for about 4 years.

Two years ago it developed an apparent motor fault. Sometimes it slews and sometimes it doesn't.

Attempted  fixes several times including disassembly and basic maintenance. Updated HC Firmware to version v3.35.

Most of the time I'm preoccupied with imaging using my HEQ5 set up but I'd like to get the AZ going for the benefit of my young nephews. Not sure what the motor controller firmware version is but it will be as factory released.

The problem is with the AZ axis. The Alt' is always ok. If I leave it a while it operates as if nothing was wrong but then nothing I do will budge it.

Any suggestions will be most gratefully received.

Thanks.

Power supply ... low voltage ... ?

Handset cable/connectors ... broken / dirty / dry joint ... ?

Handset dirty internals  .... ? ... sometimes a build up of grunge on the back of the rubber keypads / pcb contacts ... quick wipe with IsoPro / Baader Wonder and a Q-Tip works wonders.

( Same applies to those old TV Remotes ... )

Frustrating or what?.  Yes James tried the Syntrek controller with different cable but still same result. Alt' axis ok but AZ not.

I probably need professional help (for the mount as well) but who does repairs and maintenance for SW products?

If it was the board you might expect that it would never work.

Thanks everyone.
