SKYMAX 90 focuser change

Recommended Posts

Hi Steve. There's a bit of backlash in the focuser, but I can live with it. As you know, many observers with SCTs attach a Crayford or rack-and-pinion focuser to substitute for the built-in one.

Telescop Service has a MCT to SCT adapter. You could then use a Revelation or whatever brand you want SCT focuser.

The issue though is that you definitely will not have enough clearance to fit the focuser as the existing focusing knob will be in the way...

Measure twice, cut once. Ask SCT folks to give you the diameter of the focuser so that you can check if you have enough clearance.

Another choice is a non rotating helical focuser. Again, I noticed TS sells those.

Not promoting TS, it just happens to have most of the stuff I want and it is relatively "close" to Cyprus where I live...
