m31 first try

Recommended Posts

hi again,

this is my first attempt to image m31, it is one one of the main targets i wanted to image since i started doing astrophotography about a year ago.

well, this the cropped out version of my first try and i'll post a link to the unstretched png file, so if anyone want to have a go to see if it can get much better than i did.

here is the image:

details: 45 x 20s lights @ iso 800

            40 bias frames

Shhhhhhhhh!!!. Dont tell Tim this, but i prefer your version.

Nice dust lanes. There is probably a lot more data/detail that can be brought out of the image..............but i am not an imager so i dont really know.

thanks, laudropb, alex.

That's great!

You'll love it when you start guiding! Because you will, eventually! ;)

thanks, it is in my plans to start autoguide soon, just waiting for the parts to arrive in the store.

Have a look at your colour balance which is rather green-heavy. Or try SCNR Green in Pixinsight or the free Hasta La Vista Green from Deep Sky Colors.

You need flats, too. You cannot get away without them in this game. Vignetting is clear on this image.
