Wow! Very good and reprocess work.

stacked in dss  and processed in photoshop cs2 and lightroom 5.

I don't know lightroom 5, but it seems to be a proof that  CS2 can process very well images if they have good signal and data.

Your photo has many fine and nice details of region. Very good field with all DSOs around.

Congratulations ! anim_claps.gif

depth of field is to give the appearance of depth or nearly but not quite 3d or foreground in focus with detail and the background slightly out of focus, of which astro photos cannot do with long exposure unless it is a Hubble camera and even then it is difficult.

this is just my interpretation.

not deep field as in the Hubble deep-field.

This is a nice bit of processing. I've tried the DOF technique on occasion, doing it by hand and deriving the idea from the fine art world where painters have been doing it for centuries. Strong colour saturation will also help bring details forward if the area behind is given lower saturation.

You darned nearly have a clean split on Alnitak. I bet you could clinch it using Layers and a softer Alnitak stretch....

Not thought of DoF before for AP images but def works.  If you let you eyes go slightly out of focus while looking at image it exaggerates the effect (something I learnt in a former life while working at the National Gallery when looking at artwork as mentioned ealier in thread).  I find with this image the Flaming Star even appears slightly in front of IC434.

Well done and a little education for me.
