My new EQ 5 arrived, which dovetail bar?

Hi guys. Ive just received my new (used) SW EQ5 mount and tripod to replace the standard wobblepod that came with my celestron 114eq tube. Feels real solid.

Now i need a dovetail saddle bar doofer to attach the scopes rings to the mount.

Ive seen these on FLO but not sure which to go for.

would they all work? The shortest one looks most likely as i can clearly see the holes my rings would screw into.

Anyone able to advise?

I have quite a few dovetails, for me medium to long offers more scope for any DIY or 'project' hacks where I might need to balance something daft. Obviously you need one that has the appropriate positionned holes for your current tube. (or a drill).

Plus I don't like mounting over a centre point but would rather spread a wide load vis a vis tube rings.

As you now have a decent mount, I see that a larger OTA might be in your future, thus longer dovetail.

Are sw tube rings the same as celestron rings?

I don't know is the honest answer. I found that the 15cm dovetail, which incidentally came with my EQ5, was the perfect length. Enough space between the rings to hold the scope stable, but with enough room at either end to slide the scope up and down for balancing. I can only suggest making a card template for each dovetail you're considering to check the spacing.

yes i may have to do that.  I was thinking longer the better, especially for future heavier OTA.

I think my concern is more whether the longer dovetails have a different size dovie bit that slots into the EQ5.

So have contacted FLO.

For anyone elses reference, all three of the bars on the above FLO link will fit the rings from a celestron onto my eq5. I went therefore for the medium one for added stability.
