Hi Frank,

I would actually think, you picked a hazy night. eta Carina is a very bright nebula and you should not have any problems imaging it. The following pictures were taken from my back yard on the outskirts of Melbourne. single frame 60sec ISO1600.

First picture as it came from the camera (Pentax K30) and the second one a quick stretch of the same picture in Corel Photopaint.

The triangular part of the nebula is in your upper right hand corner. But as I said before, this nebula should not cause any trouble.

Good luck!

thanks guys for the replies,

the specs were 35 x 30s subs with iso 800, no flats, bias or darks. couldn't take more because the clouds rolled over.

i tried stretching again but only around the triangular area gets more detail.

Frank
