First real time observing!

After all this rain and cloudy night i finally get crisp clear skies!

sadly most of my time was aligning the scope, and it still wasn't right.

But i used my celestron navigator app to pin point Jupiter and Venus. Venus seemed like it was half a disk, but had crisp clear edges.

Jupiter i saw 3-4 moons and could almost make out some dark bands on the disc.

neighbors ruined it by driving back and forth with their damn highbeams on.

Maybe i will find a local spot thats not lit up with vehicles or ridiculously bright porch lights!

above all tat seeing jupiter was awesome!

Very nice. Had some nice views of Jupiter yesterday too...

Keep on! You need to find a dark spot in order to truly enjoy the sky.

Cheers

we have a local astronomy club that has several darksites, but id never be able to make it to one, closest is about 90 miles/144 km away. they have monthly meetings and several "events" every month, I have just never been able to attend

but for good dark skys, i would have to travel west about 40miles for some decent sky

You are lucky. I don't even have a car, no means for getting away from this Light pollution center that I live.

I can't even find M13 with this LP dude. No worries though, I will go to my village in the summer and hopefully will enjoy some nice views. I can see M8 and M20 with binoculars there so my 60mm refractor will do the job I guess....
