First go with my new scope

Recommended Posts

I am so happy with my new scope! I have a skywatcher explorer 200p with an eq5 mount! Took it out last night for a first run! First took a visit to jupiter which look stunning and so clear! Then took a trip to the moon followed by a visit to venus!

This scope is in a whole new class compared to my previous astromaster 130! The mount is so steady too and so easy to use!

Cannot wait to get out again and take some videos and photos!

Just wanted to to share how happy i am

That's exactly the step up I made from my first scope, and exactly the same impression I had between the two.. its a different kind of scope altogether..

many happy hours in front of you with the 200P explorer..

clear sky's

Thanks, I could tell as soon as I looked in the eyepiece that it was so much clear and was showing a lot more detail. I was also impressed with how easy it is to collimate! First go at collimating ever and Its spot on! Having a centre dot on the primary did really help.

I have the same scope as you, and I love it too! Not brave enough to collimate it yet, though...

When I saw Jupiter through it the other night, for the first time ever, it blew me away. And likewise Saturn, Venus, and the Moon. Brilliant scope (in my very amateur opinion!)

Awesome! I was so amazed of how clear jupiter was, I can see i've been missing out with the other scope! Im hoping to get saturn tonight as its meant to be tbe best night for it, Thats what I read somewhere!

Did you use any filters for venus as its so bright?

Ive been thinking about trying my sky glow/moon filter on it

If the clouds go away I'll be out looking for Saturn again tonight, too. No, I didn't use any filters on Venus and it was very bright - a moon filter might help (don't quote me on this, though!) I found that if you look at it for a while, your eyes kind of adjust.

Good luck tonight, and clear skies!

Nice to hear you are enjoying your 200p, it's a great scope, and what a difference the EQ5 makes,

try M13 in Hercules it's an easy target and will look spectacular through your 200p, also M57 the

Ring Nebula is a gem, the 200p is a very capable scope, hope you get more clear sky's soon.

Excellent, I will definitely be giving them a go, as soon as this pesky cloud goes
