V. Far South......

Recommended Posts

As the seeing tonight was excellent+, I carried my Mak on my portable mount to the middle of a field  near me which has the clearest view of Antares at the moment.

At x125 and x190, there was a very definite sign of the companion nearly due W of the main star. Not resolved to a point, more like a fuzzy little disk touching the red disk of the main star. I think it might take a much more southerly view to get it to a well separated point though.

A very good night for Saturn too, with very clearly marked Cassini and colour detail on the disk of the planet. The seeing was good enough to separate Zeta Her B to a clear, well separated point - probably the best I've seen it.

Joy!

Great bag for you Chris, this I think it more difficult than Sirius, I have done it twice in well, hundreds of efforts, it is really tricky but so so low down for you, very well done. I guess it will be off to the field more often now.

Nice report Chris

Antares is difficult to see at all for me from home so I've not tried splitting it as yet.

I have managed Zeta Herc a few times with my ED120 but it's no walkover thats for sure !
