Another test with the ASI 174 today. Horrible condition with hazy sunshine, but I had a bash anyway.

The full discs were on the Lunt L60 PT, double-stacked with a 50mm Etalon. The full disc fitted into a ROI with the ASI....I could do with a 1.5 Barlow to fill the chip up a bit. It made a heck of a difference being able to get the whole disc in. On my old Chameleon I had to do a 3 pane mosaic. Plus the speed of the ASI meant that a 1000 frame avi took only a few seconds. Amazing.

Then onto the Quark on my Altai 115mm triplet. I've got some issues with Newton's Rings which I have to suss out.  The crummy conditions won't have helped as the hazy clouds were robbing contrast.

Lovely work. Great detail in the quark. Ive managed to wedge my camera at a slight angle in my 2.5 powermate to rid of the rings

Thanks Craig.

I think that it will be something simple like that. Are you using a Powermate with a Quark?

With the lunt 60. Not got a quark ....yet .im holding back the urge although this new quark combo looks intresting. I seem to make the newton rings worse with flats. Pulled camera slightly back pulled to one side and tightened up ,to my surprise it held camera in place quite sturdy and just enough that the rings vanished.
