First Photo... With an IPod.

Hey I have just joined this forum since finding it. I have been into astronomy for quite some time now but I am just getting into Astrophotography.

Since I have no special webcams or adapters to take proper photos, I used my IPod which sounds pathetic.

Hopefully once I invest into real Photography equipment in the future I will be able to contribute more to this forum.

Hi,

Welcome to SGL. I think you will find that a lot of people on SGL, just like you, took their first Astrophoto with an iPod or some other mobile phone or similar. Keep it up, but most importantly have fun.

Clear skies,

Dave.

Hi, and welcome to SGL! It in no way sounds pathetic and you have made very good use of your equipment. The image you have produced is very good and very atmospheric. Don't rush into buying equipment until you have decided what you want to concentrate on photographically. I know that is easy to say and we are all itching to buy bigger, faster, better equipment; but time spent now investigating what you really want out of it will pay dividends later and, more importantly, save you money in the long run.

Good luck and clear skies!

Excellent shot, nice and sharp, in no way pathetic!!

I have a habit of regularly 'offending' the imagers on this forum by posting my iPhone shots of the moon or sun :)

Just use what you've got access to, it's all good :)

It is the way most of us started, Pleiades M45, though back then it was with digital cameras, not phones.

Try it with a webcam if you have one, you will get some better results.

Haha yes, I would of used a digital camera if i have the mount.

Planning to get the eyepiece camera soon.
