Cloud and moon dodging...

Just had to take the bins out as the first time any stars have been visible for nearly a week, despite a bright waning moon and clouds blowing across from time to time.

Saw Antares rising but hopeless looking for M4, only 10 degrees or so from the Moon. Had to check Saturn which was even closer, could just about make out the rings despite the glare.

Then reacquainted myself with some early summer objects; M13 and M92 are looking good nicely high up now, and just managed to see M57 despite the moon which was somewhat surprising. M5 and M3 bearing the moonlight nicely too, though I caught them before dawn in February.

Then up to Ursa Major and Canes Venatici (no point trying Virgo, just hope we get some clear nights next week as its the last New Moon left to see them- June it will be twilight all night, July they'll be setting). M51 was visible but a shadow of its true self, as were M81 and M82. However two galaxies seemed to stand up well to the moon: M106 and M94. Both were quite easily visible, especially M94 which always looks more like a globular in the binoculars.

A quick glance at M103 (still resolves even low down) and the Double Cluster (which looked rather nice tonight, with fewer stars visible it actually looked more like two separate objects) to round off. Please be clear next week for Virgo!
