first astro image

[Essex nightsky]

This is my first image (waxing gibbous), it consists of 3 panes stacked from video shot with my Sony nex 3. My scope it 1400/150 on an eq3. I don't have a drive motor so just recorded the motion of the moon across the frame and aligned and stacked in registax. The final frame for the top wouldn't stack and just came out blurry so its missing,but for a first attempt in pleased... Your thoughts?

I would be very pleased with that, I have never tried stacking shots of the moon but looking at this I may try it

Yh same here in Essex, break in the cloud predicted Tuesday night but gusts up to 35mph... No chance of any pics

Your scope is "1400/150"? Is that one of those Seben "Big Boss" scopes?

I bought it on ebay and don't really know anything about it... From the advice iv got on here I believe it is one of those sebens

Excellent first shot. By far better than mine were. Have you tried MS ICE to stitch the images?

Thanks astrosurf, no I used photoshop, opened up each image as a layer, set blend mode to multiply and you can easily see the the overlap to align then masked off the overlap and set blend mode to lighten.Subtle adjustments to grey point helped get the exposure uniform from pain to pain

Very good. The left hand side is particularly sharp and I think you've handled the range of brightnesses beautifully.

Thanks... This is a 13 day old moon, not quite full the terminator is on the left hence the higher contrast and more detail.
