May 2, 2015: The day of 1,000,000 km of filaments

Recommended Posts

Captured a 21 pane mosaic of the sun today. Amazing detail in the massive string of filaments in the "Arnie" structure. Usual Solar Spectrum set-up.

Grey Scale:

Part inverted:

Pseudo colour:

Part inverted plus pseudo colour:

I also captured a 4 pane mosaic of just the filament:

Congrats Michael. The detail is top notch, I can only imagine what your images will look like when you hook the Solar Spectrum up to more aperture. I have to say it again...I can't believe how good these images are- your APM set up is fantastic.

Excellent images Michael and thanks for sharing  If the cloud cover maps are correct there will be no chance here until Tuesday and the filament maybe gone by then. There is a nice prominence on the right also.

Fantastic "Blockbuster" title for the post
