April 28, 2015: Quite some action besides the filaprom

Recommended Posts

Had the Solar Spectrum set-up out early this morning to catch some unexpected sunshine again. Apart from grabbing AVIs, I had a good look around at the EP. The big filament/filaprom (it is still sticking out to the north) is still there. To its east, a long filament can be seen, with quite some plage in a compact area halfway down its length associated with it. Just north of where it meets the limb, something seems to be brewing. It looks like an AR with filaments associated with it is just round the corner. Even though much of the disk looks quiet in WL, I can see several prighter plage areas and smaller filaments across the disk, and a big AR complex is bowing out on the south-western limb. It's clouded over now, but maybe I can get some more looks with the Coronado SM-II 60 later.

Certainly a lot going on today, the filaprom is sticking up higher in the "sky" and a few more proms appearing, one looks like a seal jumping clear of the surface and as Michael says another long filament.

Very nice report, Michael. I was lucky to catch some rays this morning, I can't even fit the whole filaprom in a single tile now!  There was also a very nice prom on display near the departing AR's. Only problem I have at the mo with my morning sessions is I don't quite have enough time to switch to a white light setup us all. Roll on Summer!
