Problem - Moonglow occluding Jupiter

Went out to look at Jupiter last night for the first time in weeks (rainy season in Texas sigh...) and Jupiter within the visual radial glow from the moon (seeing was not great).  Anyway I could not get my scope to resolve without picking up too much of the glow.   Is there a filter I can use or are the wavelengths more or less the same as reflected and refracted from the moon and reflected from Jupiter?

Unfortunately the moon is reflecting mostly the same light as Jupiter is, however you can try a red filter as red light is scattered less in the atmosphere so you should get less glow.

For me, I find that moonglow helps with planetary observation as it dims them naturally revealing detail that can be swamped by too bright an image. One of the best views I ever had of Saturn was when it was just about to be occulted by the Moon.
