14mm MEADE 100* Eyepiece

Recommended Posts

I have been viewing with this MEADE 14mm 100* Eyepiece since February and I have seen some Breathtaking views of Star fields consistently...

the few reviews of these Meades seem negative in my opinion, so I often wonder why people do not see this EP as I do, Anyway I must report that it is MY FAVORITE EYEPIECE, it took the #1 spot ( from my 12 NAGLER T2 ) which is an AWESOME Eyepiece in every way...post-15801-0-56217500-1430074626_thumb.j

Eyepieces are a pretty personal thing I think. Some people just don't like large, heavy eyepieces. Some don't like 100 degree fields of view. Others love them.

I'm glad you like it, thats the most important thing

I tend to think much along the same lines as the last two posts, Meade didn't do themselves any favours when it came to design but as said by Dude With they are for looking through rather than at. I think the other thing that worked against them, this could have something to do with the problems they had, was they were a bit slow off the mark after ExSc launched their what seems very popular version of basically the same set of lenses. There was a time when Meade was out there first with rival product to Televue.

I don't know what it looks like against the 21mm Ethos which I consider large but I am pleased you get on with it and it performs for you.

I agree the performance is all that matters and at least you get something substantial for the money they cost..... No news is always good news

To be honest, I don't think you need to look any further than price to explain the lack of popularity of the Meade. $499 v $329 for the optically identical ES, doesn't take a lot of thinking about. Likewise, if the prices were reversed, I imagine people would be a lot more forgiving of the looks.
