Thanks Peter. I agree. I've seen many variations on the color of this target, most being bluish around the core. But then I've seen several of the brown/red/purple variety more akin to what I got here. The channels seemed to be reasonably well balanced. I often struglle in processing between pulling out what I expect to see based on other images vs what I actually get. I wish there were a simple way to determine "true" colors.

Like you I have struggled with "what I have" and what might be the "true colours". I am new to astrophotography and coming from a photography hobby background, whilst I try to get it as 'right' as I can, I tend to favour what is aesthetically pleasing (at least to my eyes and taste) rather than what is strictly 'correct'. In any case I like the colours in your image and they serve well here to bring out the structure in the arms and the centre of the galaxy. Well done.
