In which direction and at what time ?

I would guess Arcturus?

Betelgeuse is a bit too low, Aldebaran is lower and effectively gone, Antares is also gone now.

One of Castor and Pollox is reddish and high, but not greatly so.

If very low and in the West maybe Mars, again doubtful.

So by a bit of elimination, also guess it was seen then the post made in a short time, I guess Arcturus.

Would have been I guess in the East or South East.
