M5 with new scope

Tiny Small

Recommended Posts

I recently aquired an Orion Optics 12" astrograph along with a Vixen GD DX mount. For some reason, these were sold together new as an imaging rig... I thought the scope would be pushing the mount past its capabilities but thought I would give it a try anyway. It works amazingly well with my 130 PDS but the 300mm scope, with DSLR and guidscope attatched really does push the mount. It guides absolutely fine apart from the PEC. When that comes around, because of the very high weight, it creates a massive jump which just isn't there with the lighter scope. I don't know how much PEC correction would help this, but other than the lost frame from the jump, it isnt that much of a bother ass DSS aligns the images very nicely.

Anyway, here is M5 with only a few (maybe 10) 2 minute subs.
