SkyWatcher NEQ6 - Dimensions when in use??

As above,

I'm aiming to remove this from the shed without too much faffing about so I've been trying to determine how large of an opening I need to have to just lift the mount (with Orion 200 attached) out of the large shed onto the concrete beside it.

Can anyone give me a rough idea of its widest point? and also height with 1000mm scope in parked position? Double doors are roughly 3'x6' so it is a fair sized opening but want to make sure it's enough before I put the posts in this weekend.

I may have missed something here, but can't you go into the shed with a tape measure and measure it? Also I would not move a mount with the scope attached, the EQ6 is heavy enough without added load. I enclosed a sketch I did some time ago of the head, but not sure how much it will help. Note the counterweight bar will slide into the mount, and the counterweight should be removed.

With a scope on and its weights it will be terribly unwieldy to move about, heavy, awkward shaped AND fragile.  Its widest point will be the length of the scope and/or its legs when extended.

I can barely lift an NEQ6 with its weights and would never attempt it with a scope - its just asking for trouble.  Something only has to be a bit loose and whammo you are going to be picking up fragments of something out of the grass.

Echo what other people have said about not moving it as a complete unit. I'm happy enough to manhandle my 10" dob in one piece but wouldn't contemplate moveing my EQ6 with any scope attached let alone my 1000mm refractor.

ok with 3 identical opinions I guess I was underestimating the units weight, overestimating my raw power; or a bit of both.

As for measuring, mount won't be ordered until next month but need shed finished before its arrival.

It can be done - I have seen someone make a platform which looked like a 'Y' which held the tripod legs and they had rollers underneath to shift it about.  You would need a pretty level surface though and it might be prone to tipping over easily as well when in motion.

Don't underestimate the weight.  An EQ6 is about 18kg, adding three weights will take that to 33kg and you then have the scope - no idea on that but obviously depends on whats on it.  I would estimate for my biggest scope maybe another 5kg so that takes you close to 40kg which is not that much to lift if it was in one solid block BUT when its spread out an unbalanced it makes it awkward, awkward to get a grip, awkward to manoeuvre, awkward to lift without hurting your back .  Your a Mech Engineer so I don't need to tell you about static versus dynamic loads :)
