mikeyrea
Have been observing Jupiter for a while now but never really managed to see the great red spot, or be confident that I had seen it. Until tonight that is - started before it was properly dark and was able to watch the spot transit across the planet . Praesepe was also stunning in my new SW Panaview 32mm, and to cap it all the reflection from Venus on the sea once the moon went down was amazing.Makes all those time spent looking for fuzzies and having to give it when the clouds / mist / cold rolled in. :)
cotterless45
Lovely views last night, with the white pea of Io accompanied by a dark GRS, followed by the black pea of Io's shadow. Spent a long time at x200-x250. Rest of our sky was pretty washed out,Nick.
scarp15
Sustained periods of good seeing here whilst observing Jupiter last night. I had set up and checked Stellarium and was delighted to see that a transit was to happen. The GRS was very apparent and with the polar regions nicely etched in the 8" F6, I was using between 150X and 200X. Great to follow the progress of Io, and a meteor streaked past the field of view, perhaps a little too West for a lyrid, though not sure. No matter I aim to be out tonight and will look out for Lyrids from my intended dark site.
