Hi all,

I'm new to this forum.

A bit addicted to astronomy since my 12 (born in '69), with my little flash light painted with my mother's red nail polish, and a nice astronomy book :-)

Got later (much later...) a newton 115/900 on a GP mount.

I gave it to my cousin.

Since then (20 years ago...), nothing to put an eye in ! Imagine that ! :-)

Astronomy fever is back, another one as well : the astrolabe. Forget about those star finders which are, by the way, poor copies of astrolabes...

That object is awesome, for any astromomer. If you don't know how it works, you should at least give it a try.

1) Here's is one you can print (free) and choose latitude that matches best your location (5° increment) : https://in-the-sky.org/astrolabe/

2) Very interesting astrolabe software (very accurate but not necessarily complete, you can set it up to any latitude, stars,sun,planets...free), The Electric astrolabe : http://www.astrolabes.org/pages/electric.htm.

See you later

Hello Bloub and a very warm welcome to the star-crazy gang. That Astrolabe looks fantastic.

I hope you have a great time with your return to the hobby and also with your new friends on this wonderful forum.
