Vertical Bands and Noise

Hi,

I was working on processing data as practice and I've found that my data has vertical lines down it and lots of noise. There is still a lot of data in the image, though I don't know how to get it out, but I was wondering what is causing these bands and how to get rid of them and reduce the noise. Ive attached a cropped in version of the image that shows the banding, any advice is appreciated.

Forgot to add this was taken with a Canon 550d DSLR.

I had those when i imaged m31 with a canon. Let me try and find the thread where people suggested causes and treatments.
