10mm stuck inside my 3x Barlow

Recommended Posts

Silly me, thought I was being clever by buying me a 3 x barlow. Went to have a peek at Jupiter the other night and found the 10mm very difficult to sit straight while in the dark. Managed to get a peek nether the less. So today, looking at why my 20mm slots in very nicely, using the little bolt to hold it in. Put in the 10mm and again it didn't sit straight, so I pushed it in - too far now that I can't get it out.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like its been double threaded (screwed in at an angle). Then again, EP's dont screw into barlows, they just sit in and then locked in with retaining screw on barlow.

Can you post a pic of the barlow and EP?. As close-up and focused as possible of the problem area.

Try cooling the pair in the fridge, then take them out taking  care not to touch the eyepiece. Hold the Barlow nosepiece in your clenched hand - or wrapped in a warmed up cloth - and after a short time try to withdraw the eyepiece again. With luck the Barlow will expand with the heat, while the eyepiece remains cold.
