Don't seem to have imaged this for a while- it's a subject more suited to longer focal lengths than I have. Spiral Galaxy IC1296 sits just above M57.

M57 Ring Nebula, Lyra- four subs totaling 720s, GSO 12"  F4 Imaging Newtonian, Canon 40D modded DSLR @ ISO1600, dark sky site in Mid Wales

I'm getting the 8" F5 GSO, can't wait to visit this target with it. Love the image by the way, great star colour. Also is that a little galaxy above and right of M57 also looks good, little barred spiral?

Keep up the good work

Hmm just a quick prod...

You should be able to get more out of it with additional processing..

Thanks- I need to sort out the CCD-to-correcetor distance with this rig. On close inspection the stars are no where near good enough to push the detail.

The good news is I was able to sort out my OAG last night for the first time and the initial results seem to indicate much better tracking and rounder stars than I was ever able to achieve with a guide scope. So look out for longer, deeper images in the near future!
