Moon 3/29/15, Sony A6000

A few shots of the moon tonight.....through the high cloud cover (each in color and b&w)

The first two (small moon) were done at full resolution and shot in .raw on the Sony a6000.

The second two are done with the 2x digital zoom that Sony does. If you put the sensor into fine mode (so it shoots .jpg), the camera can crop the sensor down and effectively "zoom" in on your target (which could be helpful for some deep sky stuff or planets), however, rather than having the full .raw file, you have a 6 megapixel .jpg file, so you end up with some odd compression artifacts (if you look close enough).

I don't know if it matters as much for things like the moon or Jupiter (which most people shoot with the camera equivalent of a webcam), but for DSO's, I'd probably stick to the .raw formats so I could take advantage of all the data the sensor sees
