M81 with mono DSLR

Hello,

i wanted to share another image with my mono Nikon D5100 which i`m enjoying quite alot. Total exposure time is 4hrs with an 8" F5 Newton telescope. The image is a fairly heavy crop again. 

I think i messed something up with the darks because i had alot of vertical fine "streaks" before smooting. I played a little bit with the deconvolution tool in PI and i`m fairly happy with the result except some minor artefacts in the midtones of the galaxy (most likely due to deringing). I learned about the IFN just a few minutes ago in one of the other threads. I guess to adequately capture that alot more exposure is needed.

Anyway, up to now i`m super happy with the mono D5100. Let`s see how it performs in the summer when ambient temperatures are much higher

Really nice image Matthias,you don't often see this Galaxy in Mono,but looks great,and slightly Brooding.

Thanks Mick! In general i prefer color images, but at the moment i`m just fascinated by the enhanced quality that the mono camera delivers
