Need help assembling Celestron Advanced VX 6'

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just received my new Advanced VX 6 telescope with the tripod and the mount and some accessories.

I assembled it according to instructions, and everything looks fine, but I'm worried that I did not use 1 washer.

The washer is a flat thin metal place with a hole.

External diameter: 19mm.

Internal diameter: 10mm.

I did use 1 larger washer when installing the accessories tray on the tripod.

I also received the piggyback mount, a set of eyepieces, polar axis finderscope.

Any ideas about the origin and purpose of this washer are appreciated.

odds are it may be a spare washer...they do sometimes get into the mix at packing time.

Am sure that if it isnt wobbling all over the place and all is sound with the assembley, then the missing of one washer is not worth getting stressed out over.  Just look on it as improving the design.....if it works well without the washer, then it isnot needed so you have saved weight and made an improvement.  But dont trust me on that, am an Engineer by trade, so we are the biggest bunch of cowboys ever...yeeha

Hi Shelster1973,

I only used a washer directly under the accessories tray.

Now I tried to use the smaller washer directly beneath the tripod head, and it does fit. Though, the hole in the washer seems a bit bigger than it should be.

I think, I'll leave it there, thanks!
