Hi all.

English is not my first language, but I will do my best.

Some years ago I bought the Meade etx-70. My first telescope. Nice, but I never really liked the "to go thing"  I sold it, and have not had a telescope since.

I miss it a lot, to look at the wonderful things above our heads. It has always been a joy, just to look up.

Now I am in the market, for something that will give the the calm and joy again.

I have rad a lot about the

Heritage 100P Dobson.

How will this compare to the Meade? I have a small garden, and kind of dark. I like to look at the moon (my dog named Luna) planets, and my favorite, the Seven Sisters. Anyone who can give me some inputs.

Kind Regards-

Not a fan of dobsonians (and I do have an ETX 70) but i would suggest collecting sufficent money for a 150P dobsonian.

The 100P is a fast scope and will not deliver therefore as much as you may expect, or not easily.

More concerned about the easy aspect.

You will need to keep a 100P well collimated and you will need good eyepieces.

Two reasonable eyepieces will cost more then the scope, and a collimator is £25-30.

So already somewhat above the scope cost.

You will also need a table to use it on.

Where is "Lost" ?

Just different places have different scopes and retailers.

Telling you to look at FLO is I suspect little point, but is saying look at AgenaAstro, or Telescope Express ?

I know India seems to be restricted on access to scopes.

But no advice/ideas can be given.

Hi Waxon, & welcome!

I have a 200 mm diameter Sky Watcher newtonian reflector telescope and find it delivers good performance at a reasonable price.   Got it 2nd hand as well which helps!    If you keep your eyes on the 'classified' section here you might find something comes up.   And there's this..  http://www.astroboot.co.uk/bargain-zone.html  (see the Sky Watcher SKYLINER-200).

I would recommend doing a bit of research or trying something similar at a club as what's ideal or somone may be disliked by someone else.

Hi and welcome

I have a Skywatcher 200P Dobsonian telescope and would recommend it as a good compromise between price and good viewing. My only purchase has been some better eyepieces to replace the 10mm provided and this has improved my experience a lot. The SW 25mm seems to do the job
