neil groves
Does the law of diminishing return apply to exposure, I mean am I going to get twice the detail from an object at 2hrs as I will for 1hr? Neil.
wxsatuser
Although this is to do with minimal exposures take a look at Samir's experiment with exposures.http://www.samirkharusi.net/sub-exposures.html
jambouk
You'll get a much better signal to noise ratio, yes. That is a good article, thanks for referring to it.James
dph1nm
Goes as the square root of the exposure. So 2hrs is sqrt(2) = 1.4x better than 1hr.NigelM
sharkmelley
In other words, to double the signal to noise ratio you need 4x as much total exposure.
ollypenrice
As above.Diminishing returns really set in once you get to the mid thirties of subs, I'd say.Olly
jambouk
Does that mean, at say 40 subs (whatever the sub length) there is little benefit in adding more subs? Even if the subs are say 30-60 seconds long?James

Psychobilly
Basically each year for the first few years I doubled the amount of time I spent on a target... In the end I would aim for a minimum of 4 hours of subs and a max of 8-10hrs if I had a decent spell of clear nights and could grab a few hours on the target each night...Peter...
