Hello everyone

Hi everyone, well I'm new to stargazing so happy to meet up for a chat and listen (I can't offer advise as I'm just starting out but what great fun).

I have a Sky-Watcher P13065 computerised parabolic Newtonian Reflector with a 2x barlow lens, Super 10 and a Super 25 wide angle lens that came with the telescope.

As to my camera, I have a Sony a77, remote shutter, 35mm prime lens, 70-300mm lens, 18-200mm lens and a 18-50 kit lens. It's all very basic but I'm very happy with it.

I look forward to chatitng and meeting new people on here along with growing this new hobby (when I get time).

Happy to hear from anyone who can offer advice, in the meantime take it easy.

Hi Simsyuk :), Welcome to the Lounge.

I have posted this on a number of threads before, to try and give some basic things for a new starter.

Hope it helps a little. ;)

Welcome to this fascinating Pastime. :)

Firstly, I'd get a copy of a good astronomy Guide, something like, ' Turn Left at Orion ' or 'The Backyard Astronomers guide' books like these are invaluable when your starting out.

There are also some great free software, you can get to show you what's in the sky at night. http://www.skymaps.com Is something that you can print off, and is very handy.

There's also some software called 'Stellarium '. http://www.stellarium.org/en_GB/

That's great if you have a tablet or phone with you, whilst observing.

The other recommendation is find your nearest. Astro society, and go along, and see what other people have, it's a perfect opportunity to ask questions. :)http://www.firstligh...om/locator.html

Also have a good read at some of the beginners threads on here, they are very helpful, and may well give you some answers.

A must read is this. Please don't expect to see things , as you would on TV or in magazines. http://stargazerslou...-expect-to-see/

But for now your main objective is. ENJOY YOUR STARGAZING

Welcome to SGL! Dont worry about not being able to offer advice, the whole point of this place is to provide you with as much as you need. With that being said, its amazing how quickly you'll find yourself in turn passing on things to other people on here once you've picked them up yourself.

Also, very nice choice of scope, its an excellent way to start seeing whats out there (not that Im biased at all :D )

Clear Skies

Matt

Hi Simsyuk and welcome to SGL, we all started to have an interest in Astronomy at some point in our lives, and from past experience, I found it to be not a race to try and absorb everything at once, as confusion often results, take it slow and steady. Everyone has helpful suggestions, choose what you think will be of benefit to you and always ask advice if you are not sure. The forum is a mine of information, all you need to do is make your inquiry in the relevant sub section to receive help.

Photography is, however, down a different road and one that can be both expensive, time consuming and at times difficult to come to grips with, this probably is something you may wish to put on the back burner for a short while, until you have become familiar with using your scope and the night sky, enjoy your Astronomy :)
