Chamois mirror cover?

Thanks for the reply.

You see that is what I am thinking. It may be soft and not hurt the mirror but what if there is something on the mirror such as dust, a fleck of paint and when you take it off or put it on it scratches it? I think I have come up with a solution for now. A wooden disc half an inch bigger than the mirror sits on top of the 3 mirror posts.

Chamois lether will absorb moisture from the atmosphere. It is treated during manufacture, can't remember with what, but possibly will, with moisture etch the mirror surface if in contact. Seems a very bad idea. Mirrors are expensive to take that sort of chance on. I think nothing at all should ever touch the surface. If possible not even the air. Maybe we need to live in a vacuum, ;)
