Sub guide camera interfaces

Hi jus wondering are the shoestring Gpusb and the hitecastro usb guider basically the Same thing? Ie they both control usb webcams and or guide cams for auto guiding? Via PhD or the like Or does it depend on which camera you use?

They do the same job but do not control anything. They just relay the correction command from PHD guiding to the mount ST4 port. PHD receives the guide star image from the guide camera through the laptop / pc calculates the centroid and measures the drift then issues correction commands sent via GPUSB to the mount. Hope this is of help.
