Bryan, here's a trick I read in an old physics book. Close one eye when you look at a flat image or a movie where hints of perspective are strong like vanishing points or contrast gradation. Your brain loses informatoin about the flatness of the page or screen because you are only looking with one eye. The image then looks 3-d. Works even with movies. I am not sure this works for everyone. Also while watching movies, your eye tires out after a while.
