Hi!

I'm from Maceió, Brazil. Its a medium city on the Northeastern coast of the Country, less than 10 degrees South of the Equator. I just bought a 150mm reflector telescope, and I'm waiting delivery on the next 10 days. It's the middle of dry season here (we have dry Summers and wet Winters) but its raining. Go figure!

C ya all!

Miguel

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

The scope arrived today and I was kind of anxious to mount and try it. I couldn't find any batteries for the go-to, so I decided to mount it on my apartment's balcony. It took me half an hour to do so, and plug it on electricity. I fumbled a lot with the go-to setup, because every time I loaded my time zone, (GMT-3) it would save the value as GMT+3. Then I just quit: saved it as GMT+0 then loaded Zulu time instead of local time. After that thigs started to go smoothly. I was able to see the Jewell Box, then when Jupiter came out of the buildings shadow I turned to it and got a real nice view: with only the standard 10mm eyepiece I could see four satellites and some stripes (75 x magnification). Then she-who-must-be-obeyed told me to go to bed. Before I do, I'm sharing this with you folks.

Now I need some batteries and a dark place off town.

C ya,

Miguel
