dust on inside of Refractor lens

Recommended Posts

Many Thanks for the quick reply

I bought it secondhand and its almost like new

I was just a little concerned

Im guessing the front of the lens should not be cleaned too often either

But i did give it an air blow and a gentle wipe with a micro fiber cloth and some lens cleaner

I tend to clean my gear only when I sell it! It makes no difference to the views generally. Occasionally when I can see it (only really when on the eyepiece) I will clean it off though.  Ideally keep them capped and clean and they don't need cleaning.

Some very intelligent comment i once got to a similar question:

If you put your finger infront of the lense, the picture barely reduces in brightness, and you're finger is pretty thick compared to a few specs of dust.

So the dust is irrelevant for the most part. (even if it drives me NUTS mostly when there is even one spec of dust anywhere)

You'll do more damage than good cleaning too frequently.
