cotterless45
Well placed at the moment and usually a neglected area of the sky. Even with the blasting Moon out there were some lovely surprises.Σ1073 showed a delicate 8.9" separation.Σ1103 a good separation at under half of the above, but quite bright.A most delicate binary at Σ1137, a 2.6" caught at x160.The lovely triangle triple of 14 C.Min. The bright primary holding two equally spaced , equally dimmer companions.Σ1182 showed another delicate binary.I swung over to C.major to catch the double triple group of S 538 and S 537. Quite an amazing sight , a pile of stars vertical and at right angles. Worth finding at 06h 46.9m-24 09'. Quite a nice session with the dogs, under Clear skies !Nick. MAN or ASTROMAN
Another nice report Nick.I think you're right about Canis minor being a neglected part of the sky-I for one haven't paid much attention to it,apart from Procyon.
lunator
Nick nice report, it is an overlooked part of the sky I passed through it on the way to Monoceros. Cheers Ian
sungrazer
Agree with it being neglected - Celestron Sky Portal doesn't give it much attention, seems to be a void apart from Procyon / Gomeisa, but the reality is beautiful.Thought I spotted a faint nebulosity around Procyon and extending upwards (N) around 1/3 degree - any idea what this could be? Doesn't show up in any catalogue. Will have another go tonight.SG
