hi all, i downloaded and used this program for the first time the other night , and after a few teething problems mainly due to eqmod already syncd targets and a few tweeks to the settings i got it to work and fairly well, mu question is i didn`t realise what a big program it was and i only have a 80 gb hard drive on my old obsy pc, i only use one scope and one camera to image with which is a william optics GT 81 and a Atik 414 with and sometimes without the reducer on, so was wondering if there are any parts or files i could safely remove from the pc without braking it.

i`m not too pc savvy so please explain in so detail what files are safe to use.

many thanks.

Hi Rob,

Treat yourself to a new HD!!! I have had a dig around and found the following :-- http://sourceforge.net/p/astrotortilla/home/FAQ/  , if you are not pc savvy then I would not recommend that you remove shared dll's or program elements.

Also 80Gb aint that huge anymore, if you are downloading images it will be eaten up quickly. A larger drive will probably be quicker and reasonably cheap.

Hope all ok your end.

Best Regards

You can reduce the size ofd the database that AT uses when solving.  This should clear up some space for you.

If you look in this thread there is mention of it on Page 8 by Lou (more internet cookies for her).

I have not reduced mine down as have a 500 Gb HD in my laptop, so space is not an issue here.

cheers guys for that,

fine down here Damian thanks, hows you ?

a new hard drive would be the answer but the pc is a little hp microtower thing but works well enough for my astro stuff which is the only thing i use it for, i have thought about getting a windows 7 all singing and dancing desktop with a bit of punch but the thought of installing all that software and setting it up again fills me with dread,

i don`t usually download big image files, my Atik does small fit files and once i`ve got them they are either deleted of if there any good put on dropbox, come to think about it i have taken the old hard drives out of the older pc i used to have before i through it away, i suppose i could install that and have two drives, or buy a second new drive, is that possible, i`ll have to do some googling about it to see if it is easy to do.

Hi Rob,

You can get a 250gb hd for 20 quid on fleabay!, if you do not want to swap your primary, you can  put it in a caddy and use off usb, mind you you can get a 64gb flashcard now!!

It is easy to install the hd if you have space in the case. Drop me a pm, if you come over I could do it in 15 mins!. I think I have spare one in a box somewhere!!

cheers matey, might take you up on that but you have me thinking of a plug in one, that might be useful as could store my images onto that and take inside a process them on the house pc in the warm and at my leisure.

some thinking to be done.

i have some spare usb 2 slots i could use, i have no idea what ieee is.

really hoping to get a better desltop pc in the not too distance future but really not looking forward to putting all the astro software onto again, at the moment it`s working lovely and i`m very reluctant to change anything.

i must say that astro tortilla has been working very well, i managed to slew onto the horse head neb again last night and the frames from both nights look bag on overlay.

also slewed to m101 and that was lovely and centred first go.
