Have you tried using a 1.25" filter with an 2" eyepiece? Does it work?

365 astronomy is selling an adapter that in theory will allow me to use my 1.25" filters with my 2" eyepieces ( ES 5,9 &14mm -100 ).

It would save me some cash after the eyepiece expenditure.

Generally you would not do that because the 1.25" filter would reduce the field of view size of the 2" eyepiece. You might get away with it with the 5mm and 9mm ES 100 eyepieces because their field stop size is smaller than the optical diameter of the 1.25" filter. The 14mm would have some vignetting (loss of the field edge) with this approach though.

What sort of adapter is it ?

I can't say I really see the point of this, as John said it would work on the likes of 8mm Ethos and and this general area but all these eyepiece I believe have a screw in 1.25 thread, even the 13mm Ethos has. I can't imagine what it would look like screwed into the front of say a 31mm Nagler or the like, maybe a 31mm orthoscopic with similar FOV.
