Zodiacal Light

Had an excellent view of the zodiacal light here last evening.  It appeared as a dim, elongated triangle of light stretching from the western horizon (with Venus centered at the base, to near the zenith (with the Pleades  at the apex).

A pretty cool sight.

frankly speaking I'm a bit jealous of you: Great observation! Instead of zodiacal light I can see here the position lights of starting and landing planes near the airport

Awesome StarSapling! I see it at times here too- it looks like a rounded triangle at its best here. A couple of years ago I obs the Gegenschein from a dark site, this is quit a sight too. These are gifts of the universe for us to see, the way I think anyway.

Well done catching the ZL. It's decades since I saw it on several mornings in autumn on the east coast over the North Sea from Suffolk. It was classic - the bright 'false-dawn' of ZL peak merging with the true dawn to the left and northwards.along the horizon. Got some nice shots on photo film :-)
