I saw this too ...  (but my photo isn't anywhere near as good as yours! - On my version, Jupiter's around quarter to nine, and I took it about 21:36).  Very nice capture, John...

That's a cracker, John I really do need a wide angle lens for my DSLR although I see that even at 17mmm you had to mosaic it!

Very nice indeed.  My daughter and I also saw a halo last night, but it wasn't as clear as that.

60Da and 20mm just fitted it in two halves, probably need some sort of fish eye

Thanks all, and a cracking sketch Shame... as I said elsewhere, your pencil and paper has far greater dynamic range than any camera .. 

Steve, yeah, I know what you mean... I've been thinking the same thing... 17mm is not wide enough for this... but then, how wide to go... I'm thinking perhaps one of the Sammyang 8mm ...

Better late than never, just got round to this as it refused to go together in PhotoShop or Ice the other day, had to use Canon Photostich in the end.

Not as good as some but it'll have to do.

No it was there before Photostich got it, was going to paint it back in but seems like cheating and it's all ready driven me round the bend sticking it together, could probably be improved in PS but can't be bothered
