Using a Paracorr T2 for imaging Planets

Recommended Posts

I've only used my Paracorr for visual observing with excellent results using it with my Z10 dobsonian but, now I ready for AP use with my "Black Widow 8 in. astrograph on a lxd55 mount. I first tried Paracorr with a 2xED barlow giving me 3.154x  and I failed to get anything on my screen, what do you think I'm doing wrong ? I tried my 1 1/4 2x Omni barlow , I was so excited about seeing faint bands and GRS on my  laptop screen and took a bunch of snaps to stack in ccd stacks. I haven't stack them yet but, I did put an image thru Psxpress and photopad. The only way to bring the faint bands and GRS was with adding hue and color to the image which ruined it, help me Please. I'm a disabled amateur astronomer that wants to learn from some amateurs and become good at imaging Other amateurs gave the ADVICE of using a 3x barlow, I've got one but, It's 4 inches long , worrying about flexure and it looks like a toy that came with my 80mm" Widow Maker" refractor.

Hi,

Can you shoot video with your camera? if you can it's a better way of trying to get more frames of planets to stack it later.

To me it looks like you've got a nice shot, with stacking it will become more evident the details.

Give a try with registax and maybe if you can upload some other pictures so we can try to stack and see how it goes.

As for the equipment i can't help you, but sure others will :)

Keep imaging, you're doing a good job

A reasonable Jupiter image usually needs say 1000 frames, of which 50% or more will be "rejected" by your stacking software because their quality is too poor to use.

That's because of second to second turbulence in Earth's atmosphere you are shooting through.

And the easy way to get 1000's of frames is by shooting video.

Thank yall for the advice, I was going to video Jupe . It was my 2nd attempt with my new 8 in. newt. astrograph and I still working on trying to get it balanced, I'm getting some magnet weights 8oz. for the ota to counter the focuser and guider once I get it. My 1st video is pretty hideous and tiny with no detail just a white disc. I do have 9 snap shots that I'll try to post for your pleasure and help.
