Hi can anyone help please I am considering buying a Sky Watcher AZ EQ6 GT but would like to use my Shoe String BT2EQ6 Bluetooth module with it, having looked at photos of the mount I can't see a RS232 serial port on the mount. I have noticed that the hand controller port is a RJ45 connection. I have seen advertised on a auction site a RJ45 to RS232 adapter and wondered if this connected to the Bluetooth module would work. Many thanks Clive

There is no RS232 serial port on the mount. There are two ports on the hand controller. One (the RJ-45) connects directly to the mount and allows the hand controller to directly drive the mount. A second (the RJ-12 port) allows connection to a computer or like device. The mount comes with a RJ-12 to DSUB-9 cable. The RJ-12 end of the cable plugs  into the hand controller. The other end plugs into a RS-232 port on a computer or to a RS-232 to USB adapter connected to a computer or other device which accepts such a cable.

You will find your pleasure here. I did this to change the DB9 plug of my EQ6 Blutooth module to fit the RJ45 plug of my new AZ-EQ6 GT and it works well. Just make sure you don't mix the cables !

Just look at the DB9/RJ45 plugs cables to interconnect :

Colour coding of standard RJ45 cables is as follows (but check because some cables are not like this) :

1 : white-orange

2 : orange

3 : white-green

4 : blue

5 : white-blue

6 : green

7 : white-brown

8 : brown

There is no standard colour coding for DB9 cables/plugs...
