Skysafari - angle of view

Thanks Joves

I have the scope and particular eyepieces input. What I meant, I think, is, say the moons of Jupiter are at 3 o'clock, and they're actually at 2 o'clock through the eyepiece. Can I make the view orientate the moons to 2 o'clock? Thanks.

Not sure if this is what you mean but you can flip the view to match the view of your scope. Tap top right of the screen to bring up a menu. At the bottom there are 3 options to flip, horizontal, vertical or both. For example to orientate the view to match the view of a Dob choose both.

To both suggestions, yep, thanks.

To Scoot, yes I flip both and am nearly there. But for example, my LB,s focuser is at 90* when I look from the front of the OTA, and my GSO's is at 45*. I always assumed therefore that the orientation in the image would differ slightly. So when I look at an object relative to others, they differ from skysafari?

Any ideas? Thanks

Well still not sure but my thoughts are:

Regardless of what way round the focuser is everything will be in the same place if you stand and look at the same angle.

If you turn your head and look from another angle it will differ?

Thanks for that Richard. I've been using SkySafari for ages and have been annoyed that there is no way to flip the view!

Hello there

Is it possible to alter the angle of view in skysafari to match the eyepiece/focuser of your telescope (dob)? Thanks for any input

Barry

Can I be silly and suggest just turning your phone around a bit? [emoji12][emoji6][emoji3]

Think I've confused myself now!?! Scoot, I'm beginning to think you're right and the focuser doesn't matter, ......or does it?[emoji15]

Barry

It's one of those things that once grasped it seems obvious and sometimes a different way of looking at it makes it clear.

You can prove it to yourself by looking in a mirror. :) Turn the mirror upside down to see if your reflection turns upside down as well :) then look at something behind you in the mirror and turn your head at a right angle. The object behind you hasn't moved but in relation to your head angle it has. The Sky safari view assumes youre standing behind the scope and looking straight through it. So if you're looking through the scope with you're head tilted at a slightly different angle the view through the scope will appear at a slightly different orientation to the sky safari chart.

Scoot

There I was thinking I understood it, then you say skysafari thinks I'm looking from behind, when I'm actually looking into it from 45*. Think I might need to start messing with mirrors to get my head around it. Thanks for your patience.
