S Kehoe
Hello, just a little introduction. I am from Gateshead, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. A novice astronomer with an interest in Lunar/planet viewing and imagery. I have a Skywatcher 200p with a EQ5 mount, and a couple of standard viewers. I bought a webcam last year and a motor for the mount for tracking. So far I havnt got the motor working but managed to get some images from the webcam recently. I have also taken a few images from my iPhone (holding it to the viewer and snapping away) got some decent results so far. My goal this year is to get the mount tracking via the motor and use the webcam along with some stacking software to get some good pictures. Oh and to get the hang of polar alignment properly ! NotSoSuperNova
Hi Steve, Welcome to the lounge. Whilst your scope isn't ideal for imaging, it'll certainly give you a good platform to work off. It's more of a good all-rounder the 200p.

glowjet
Hi Steve and welcome to SGL, when you eventually get into imaging, it will probably be worth your while to invest in a copy of Steve Richards book " Making Every Photon Count " http://www.skyatnightimages.co.uk probably the most widely used book on the subject, used by the majority of our imagers. Enjoy your AP

Geordie mc
Hi. I have the 200 pds and have been very pleased with it. You'll get some decent lunar shots with good seeing lots of frames to stack. Sharp cap and Firecapture seem to be the most popular imaging software with webcams. Registrar and autos takers for stacking. Good luck.

JamesM
Hi Steve and welcome to the forum. Looks like you have leanings towards astrophotography or the "Dark Art" as we like to call it, so look forward to seeing the results of your 'stacking' in the near future. Clear skies and hope you enjoy your stay here!
